If your new Ford vehicle purchase is the first time you’ve ever owned a vehicle equipped with Ford SYNC®, you’re likely excited to use the infotainment features that come when you pair your smartphone with your vehicle. In fact, your Ford dealer likely made the Ford SYNC® infotainment system a major selling point in helping you fall in love with the vehicle, so how does one get started? Here’s a step-by-step guide.
Pairing Your Phone with Ford SYNC®
To pair your Bluetooth-equipped smartphone with your Ford vehicle, simply do the following:
- Turn on your mobile phone, your vehicle, and the radio/Ford SYNC® system in the vehicle.
- Enable your phone’s Bluetooth.
- To do this, press the Bluetooth icon on your phone and make sure you’ve got it set to discoverable so your vehicle can find your phone.
- On your vehicle’s control screen, press the “Phone” button to access the Phone Menu. Choose “Please Add a Phone” and press “Add” to get started.
- When the infotainment display shows the message, “Search for SYNC® on your device and select SYNC® once it is found,” you’ll need to pull up your phone’s Bluetooth menu, search for SYNC® and select it.
- A six-digit PIN number will display on the infotainment screen. Confirm that the number matches on your phone and your SYNC® screen. If the pairing is successful, you’ll see a message that reads, “Phone is connected.”
