Who is Eligible to Participate?
This program is exclusive to first responders. Whether you're in Law Enforcement, a Firefighter, an Emergency Medical Technician, or a 911 Responder, your work is noticed, appreciated, and needed. Take a look at who qualifies based on their career.
Law Enforcement Officers
- Active Police Offers (State, Federal, and Local)
- Sheriff and Sheriff's Deputy
- Correctional Officer
- State Trooper
- Federal Law Enforcement Officer
- Park Police and Park Rangers
- Pretrial Services Officers
- Probation and Parole Officers
- Bridge and Tunnel Officers
- Detention Officers
- Railroad Police Officers

- Auxiliary and Reserve Sherriff Deputy or Police Officers
- Animal Control Officers who are credentialed as Law Enforcement Officers
- Fire Marshals who are certified Law Enforcement Officers
- Court Bailiffs and Court Officers (must have law enforcement credentials)
Firefighters
- Career Firefighter (Local, State, or Federal)
- Wild-land Firefighter and Prescribed fire burn manager
- Volunteer Firefighter
- Fire Marshal
Emergency Medical Technicians
- Emergency Medical Technician
- Paramedic
- Medical Helicopter Pilot
911 Dispatchers
- Police, Sheriff, Fire, or EMS Dispatcher
- Fire Communications Officer
- Public Safety Telecommunicator
Proof of Eligibility
Provide the following documentation to claim your recognition award:
- Law Enforcement Officers: Valid law enforcement ID card, paystub, Standard Form 50. Note: U.S. government IDs cannot be used for verification purposes. TSA ID cards are NOT accepted.
- Firefighter: Must have active Proboard certification, must have U.S. Social Security Number, valid firefighter ID card, recent training completion certificate, a copy of a valid and professionally-issued certification illustrating firefighter status, or pay stub.
- EMT/Paramedic: Valid EMT/Paramedic ID card, recent training completion certificate, a copy of a valid and government-issued certification illustrating EMT/Paramedic status, or pay stub.
- 911 Dispatcher: Recent training completion certificate, a copy of a valid and professionally-issued certification illustrating 911 Dispatcher status, or pay stub.
