One of the most enjoyable features of any new Ford model is the SYNC® infotainment system, which uses wireless Bluetooth® technology to transfer information between your vehicle and your phone. It makes driving a whole lot easier and a whole lot more enjoyable, but as with all software, it does occasionally require an update installation. Thankfully, Hudson Ford owners can manage these updates easily by following a few simple steps.
Installing SYNC® Updates
To update your SYNC® infotainment system, simply follow these steps:
- Turn on the vehicle, and make sure it remains running until the update is complete. It should go without saying, but make sure this is done in a well-ventilated area.
- Download the SYNC® updates to a USB drive, and then plug that USB drive into the main USB port in your vehicle.
- Press “Menu,” scroll to “SYNC-Settings,” and then press “OK.”
- At the next screen, scroll to “Install on SYNC,” and then press “OK.”
- Select “Yes” to the prompt that appears on your screen, and you should receive an audio notification indicating that SYNC will reboot and begin the update. You should expect this to last somewhere between 10 and 20 minutes.
- Once the installation is complete, your infotainment screen will read, “Your SYNC system update is complete. The system will then reboot. Please wait a few moments before trying to use the system.”
- When the reboot is finish, you should be good to go! You can check to be sure by opening “SYNC-Settings” and selecting “Systems Info” to be sure that the latest version of the software is displayed on the screen.
