If you’re interested in purchasing a Ford vehicle in the New Year, you may find yourself looking into pre-owned models as well as new ones. If you do go the pre-owned route, you must decide if you’d like a traditional used Ford or Ford Blue Advantage model, formerly Ford Certified Pre-Owned. What’s the difference? The professionals at Bill Colwell Ford can explain!

What Is a Ford Blue Advantage Vehicle?

Like traditional used models, Ford Blue Advantage vehicles are pre-owned. The difference is that the models must fit certain standards, and they offer a handful of great benefits. There are two different programs, Gold Certified and Blue Certified, and their main differentiators are as follows:

Gold Certified

  • Less than six years old
  • Less than 80,000 miles
  • Pass 172-point inspection
  • 12-month/12,000-mile comprehensive warranty
  • Seven-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty
  • FordPass Rewards points

Blue Certified

  • Less than 10 years old
  • Less than 120,000 miles
  • Pass 139-point inspection
  • 90-day/4,000-mile limited warranty
  • 11,000 FordPass Rewards points toward first maintenance visit

Both types also come with the assurance of 24/7 roadside assistance. Gold Certified vehicles are covered for seven years/100,000 miles, and Blue Certified vehicles are covered for 90 days/4,000 miles.
