One of the most important aspects of automotive research is getting behind the wheel of a vehicle you love and giving it a test drive. • Prepare – Before you test drive a Ford model, make a list of the features and criteria that matter most to you. Then, when you test drive, use those features as a first step toward deciding if the vehicle is right for you.
• Drive in Different Situations – Don’t just take the vehicle for a quick spin through town. See how it handles on quiet side streets and busy main roads, accelerating up a hill, or coming to a stop. Practice parking and reversing, too. You want to make sure you’re comfortable driving it how you would on an everyday basis.
• Inspect Everything – Be sure the exterior and interior are up to your standards. Does the trunk open how you’d like it to? Is there good visibility out the windows? Is there enough cargo space inside? Do you like the seat material?
• Test out the Features – This is the fun part—playing with the interior features! Do you like the size of the infotainment system? Make sure the buttons, knobs, and screens are easy to use and access. Check out the sound quality. Does it have smartphone integration or USB ports? Don’t forget to test the more practical aspects, like the heating and air conditioning and seat adjustments.
• Try the Safety Features – If the vehicle comes with driver-assist systems, see how they work on the road. For example, do you like the reassurance of the blind spot monitoring system?
