For drivers in and around Hudson, IA, there is no time of year harder on an automobile than the winter. That’s why it’s so important to invest in Ford service before the worst winter weather hits.

You want your Ford truck, SUV, or car to be properly prepared for the cold, wet conditions just around the corner. Knowing that, we here at Bill Colwell Ford thought it would be helpful to share some tips for winterizing your Ford vehicle

5 Tips to Get Your Ford Vehicle Ready for Winter

  1. Check Tire Tread –You can’t afford to have balding tires in slick conditions. If your tread is too low to provide proper grip in snowy and icy conditions, it may be time for a new set of tires.
  2. Check Tire Pressure– Even if your tread is fine, underinflated tires can be dangerous for winter driving. Make sure your tires are properly inflated in colder weather.
  3. Get a Battery Inspection– Extreme cold can do a number on your battery, especially if it’s already on the way out. Get an inspection done before the winter cold sets in to check for corrosion, loose cables, or damage, and if needed, replace the battery.
  4. Change Oil and Antifreeze– Antifreeze is an important consideration ahead of the cold, and good, clean oil will help your engine run as intended in low temperatures.
  5. Replace Windshield Wipers– With all the road salt and slush, you’ll use your windshield wipers a lot over the winter. If your wipers are going bad, consider replacing them sooner rather than later.
