When it comes to large SUVs, the 2021 Ford Expedition and 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe are two of the biggest, toughest, most utilitarian vehicles in the country. It’s no secret that Ford and Chevy have a longstanding rivalry across many segments, and this one is no different in that regard. While we obviously prefer the Ford SUV option available here at Bill Colwell Ford, we figured it would be worthwhile to offer some evidence as to why. While these models are very similar, there are a couple of areas where the Ford Expedition is clearly better: engine power and towing capabilities.
Ford Expedition Engine Ratings
Entry-level 2021 Ford Expedition models come with a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with 375 hp, though there is a higher power level for the engine that can bump those numbers up to an impressive 400 hp. The 2021 Chevy Tahoe base engine starts with a 5.3-liter V8 capable of producing 355 hp. When comparing engines, the Ford Expedition is noticeably more powerful, and as a little icing on top of the cake, it also is slightly more fuel-efficient than its competitor, according to EPA ratings.
Ford Expedition Tow Ratings
The other area in which the Ford Expedition excels is in the arena of towing capabilities. A 4WD Ford Expedition equipped with the tow package can pull as much as 9,200 pounds, while a similarly-equipped Chevy Tahoe tops out at 8,200 pounds.
Visiting Bill Colwell Ford for a Test Drive
If Hudson Ford customers are interested in comparing the two models for themselves, we suggest paying a visit sometime soon for a test drive. Nothing will give you a better sense of how great this big SUV is than getting behind the wheel!
