One of the most famous and most beloved features of Ford vehicles is the SecuriCode™ keyless entry, which allows drivers to access their vehicles by punching in a code on the driver-side door. This has been a feature of Ford vehicles for years, but a time may come when a Bill Colwell Ford customer may want to change the five-digit security code that came with the vehicle. Doing so is much easier than you may imagine.

How to Change Your Ford SecuriCode™

The good news is that changing this code only take a few minutes to do. The following are the steps you should follow to do it:

  1. Begin by entering the factory-set code (or the code that was set by the previous owner if you’ve got a pre-owned Ford model).
  2. Within five seconds of doing this, press the 1-2 button on the keypad.
  3. Next, use the new five-digit code that you’d like to use going forward. Keep in mind that you must press each number of the code within five seconds of pressing the prior number. If you wait too long, you’ll need to start over.
  4. If your Ford vehicle is equipped with the memory recall feature, press the 1-2 button to store Driver 1 settings, and the 3-4 button to store Driver 2 settings.
  5. You’ll know if the new code has been received by the vehicle if it locks and unlocks in succession.

If you have any issues with this, reach out to our Hudson Ford dealers so they can help you troubleshoot. It should be a piece of cake for Hudson, IA drivers to reset their code, but if you bump into issues, Bill Colwell Ford can help!
