Are you a fan of Ford SUVs? Then you’ll be eager to know that the 2020 Ford Explorer is now available at your local Ford dealership serving Cedar Falls, IA.

New Changes for the Model Year

The 2020 Ford Explorer may not look drastically different on the exterior, but the most impactful changes lie under the hood. A new turbocharged 2.3-liter, four-cylinder engine is now standard on the Ford Explorer base, Ford Explorer XLT, and Ford Explorer Limited trims. It’s combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission and earns 300 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque.

Another distinct change is that all these models come standard with rear-wheel drive (instead of a front-wheel drivetrain) and the option of all-wheel drive. This means improved towing capacity of up to 5,600 pounds when properly equipped.

The trim level lineup also gets a shakeup at mid to upper trims, which now include the ST and Platinum. The Ford Explorer ST is equipped with a powerful 3.0-liter V6 engine that puts out 400 horsepower and 415 lb.-ft. of torque. The Ford Explorer Platinum gets the same engine, but it’s slightly less powerful with an output of 365 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque. In addition to the main trims, there’s also a Ford Explorer Limited Hybrid variation available for the year.

Another welcome change for the model year includes more interior room for both passengers and cargo, which means it’s still as family-friendly and convenient as ever. There are many small storage solutions throughout the cabin, a 50/50 power-folding third-row seat, and the capacity to support up to four car seats at once.
