A twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine is the SUV's other powerplant option, cranking out 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to this brawn, it boasts a maximum towing capacity of 5,600 lb. Both engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive and Intelligent 4WD are the available drivetrain options. The Ford Explorer Hybrid comes equipped with a 3.3-liter hybrid engine; it can also tow a maximum 5,000 lb!
